Early Morning Light

One of our local papers has a series going on right now entitled "Every Yukon home has a mountain view"... or something like that. People are encouraged to send in photos proving this fact. Here is mine!

This is a shot from my loft/bedroom (if you can call it that) window.

The big dog yard below. I can look out and see what those little troublemakers are up to at any time. They usually hang out under the tarps. The closer to the cabin, me, or more likely.... FOOD, the better.

Usually though, early in the morning, it's just these two goofballs, Ivy and Sage, beating each other up. You can see those black and white fluffballs in the lower left.

Back to my "novel" - 1,500 words to go!

Oh, and also - check out the individual dog pages (lower right on sidebar), for detailed descriptions and photos of each pooch! I've got from Kuna to Rupert done, so if you want to know more about any dog, click on their name.

Congrats on the novel finish Stacie. Like the title! When I clicked your lil icon the first time I looked up your last name and found that ca. Nov. 17thor something you had... 0 words. Had visions of the 50k all-nighter. Have since figured out your handle. Are you going to post an excerpt? I'd like to do it too, although considering the "success" of my Stacie inspired blog, perhaps not (although I hashed out an idea on sunday morning so who knows...). Did I ever tell you about my marathon aspirations? Right.... Anyways, congratulations on your novel marathon! Cheers, Jen

Hey Theo - I have no idea! Doh. I like to refer to it as "The-big-one-outside-my-window."

Jen - Yeah! I did finish! Woohoo!!! And, I only missed the first week of writing for the novel. Then I pumped out 4-5K every couple days or so. I found I was more of the sporadic-type writer, not so much consistent. Or consistenly sporadic? Post an exerpt of that shite? I don't think so... hey, but I do have a great sex scene that I finished with!!! I'll send it to you... :-)
(altho technically the novel is not even complete yet....)

You just need to get that pesky little thing called school out of the way first! Then you'll have some free time to at least attempt it. You certainly don't want it interfering with your blog-reading time either!!

So what's your book about? I had actually heard of this program a while ago but had forgotten about it. What do you just do stream of consciousness writing and see what takes form?

Sounds interesting. What it seems like to me is a big confidence booster to get people to realize that they can write a novel. Wish I had remembered about it. Of course I guess you can do it anytime.

Oh, the book... y'know, pretty much your generic dog mushing/adventure thingy. I definitely didn't plan any of it out. Some people do have a vague outline, or a more detailed one. I just kind of started writing and the damned thing seemed to take on a life of it's own. A common joke amongst us working on it was how we couldn't believe what our characters were doing now! Or how they "weren't cooperating"! Crazy, but fun.

Yeah, try it anytime - give yourself 30 days and do it. It really helps to have these other bazillion people doing it too and talking about it, whining about it, etc.
